Pistons unsure about Hamilton
The Detroit Pistons don't know if Richard Hamilton will be healthy enough to play against the Boston Celtics on Friday. Detroit's leading scorer strained his right elbow in the final seconds of Boston's 106-102 win on Wednesday night. X-rays were negative, and Hamilton's arm was in a sling as he left the arena. Coach Flip Saunders says Hamilton is scheduled for an evaluation Thursday, but his status won't be determined until Friday when the Pistons host the Celtics in Game 6. Detroit needs a win to extend the Eastern Conference finals.

Scalabrine activated for Game 5
Guard Tony Allen was inactive Wednesday night for the Celtics' playoff game against the Pistons after hurting his Achilles' tendon during practice. Forward Brian Scalabrine, who did not play in any of Boston's previous 18 playoff games, was activated in his place for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Noah agrees to probation deal
Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah accepted a deferred prosecution agreement Wednesday in his marijuana possession case, resulting in six months' probation and a $200 fine. The son of former French Open champion Yannick Noah was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and for having an open container of alcohol early Sunday in downtown Gainesville. As a first-time offender, he was eligible for the deferred prosecution agreement, the State Attorney's Office said. The charges will be dropped in six months if Noah meets the terms of his probation.
